The Session of HPC has called a congregational meeting for Sunday, July 12th immediately after worship (11:15am). This meeting has been called to elect our church officers, vote on changes to the pastor's terms of call and serve as our annual meeting.
NOMINATIONS for ELDER
Mary Ann Arildsen | Elder Nominee Class of 2028
My name is Mary Ann Thompson Arildsen, and I have been a member of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church for 34 years. I was raised in Pasadena California, but went to Yale for college, where I met my husband Ron Arildsen. After completing our medical training we moved to Nashville and joined HPC, which struck us from the beginning as a genuinely welcoming place, teaching and acting out the gospel of Jesus Christ. I worked at Vanderbilt University Medical School, first in biomedical research and then found my calling in hematopathology, where I helped patients by diagnosing leukemias and lymphomas. In that time we raised our son Mark Arildsen, our pride and joy, who is now a theoretical physicist in Vienna, Austria. Ron and I are now retired and enjoy volunteering in church-related activities, such as maintaining the church gardens and helping in the food bank at the Branch. We are long-time members of Debbie Holley’s Sunday School class. HPC has helped me to center my life around the teachings of Jesus, has provided a warm and accepting community, and has given me opportunities to carry out my faith by helping the needy. I look forward to serving HPC as an elder.
Mike Boscher | Elder Nominee Class of 2028
I moved to the United States in 1989 to continue my career as a history and music teacher in the New York City public schools. Since then, my path has included leadership roles in healthcare, fashion, and corporate gifts. Today, I own and operate a company that provides awards and recognition products to the banking and investment industry.
In 1993, I met Jim, and together we built a life that included time in Brussels, Belgium, before returning to New York. In 2008, we began growing our family through foster care and adoption, one of the great blessings of our lives. We moved to Brentwood in 2019 and are grateful to call this community home. Our children, Abby and Ethan, are now 18, and family life continues to teach me patience, humility, humor, and the importance of showing up for one another.
My faith has been strengthened through many seasons and communities, including my baptism in a Christian church in 2013, which deepened my commitment to living out my beliefs through service. I value a church that welcomes people with openness, encourages honest conversation, and cares for one another in both joy and challenge.
As I consider the role of church elder, I am mindful of both the responsibility and the privilege of serving. I hope to offer steady leadership, a listening ear, and a spirit of compassion as we grow together in faith and fellowship.
Carolyn Musfeldt | Elder Nominee Class of 2028
I have been a member of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church since about 2010. I grew up in the Presbyterian Church and was previously a member of Southminster Presbyterian here in Nashville. My faith has been important to me since I was a small child, and part of my joy at being a part of HPC has been the many opportunities for my faith to grow and mature, along with the many opportunities for service. I have previously served as an Elder three other times, twice at Southminster and once at HPC. I was very involved in our Room In The Inn ministry here at our church and served as a coordinator for several years. I remain interested in Outreach and am a member of our Community Engagement Team. Serving in our community outside of the four walls of our church building is, I believe, an essential element of living a Christian life, and I hope to continue to help find ways that our church community can serve Nashville in ways that are appealing and appropriate for our congregation. My beloved husband Kurt and I have just celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary and are the proud parents of two grown sons.
NOMINATIONS for DEACON
Raline Center | Class of 2028
I have been a member of HPC for more than 30 years and have been blessed to grow in faith alongside this church family. During that time, I have had the privilege of serving as an elder and currently serve on both the Benevolence Team and the Good Neighbor Grant Team. My husband, Larry, and I raised our three children at HPC, where they were actively involved in the youth ministry and participated in mission trips that helped shape their faith.
I am semi-retired after more than 30 years as a licensed psychological examiner and therapist. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to walk alongside individuals and families through difficult seasons, providing support with a focus on trauma, grief, and emotional healing. One area that is especially close to my heart is ministering to those who have been formerly incarcerated or who are currently incarcerated. I believe everyone deserves compassion, hope, and the opportunity to experience God's grace.
In this season of life, Larry and I enjoy traveling together and checking destinations off our bucket list. I would be honored to continue serving the Lord and the HPC family as a deacon, using the gifts and experiences He has given me to care for and encourage others.
Sarah Harrison | Class of 2028
Childhood: I grew up in Sandusky Michigan (no roller coasters just cows and corn fields)
Loving family and childhood, grew up in vacation bible schools and youth groups!
College Years; Really only went to church for holidays, still involved in church softball leagues throughout that time though!!
Adulthood: Met Josiah and as our relationship grew we both knew and decided we wanted to build our future and our marriage along with Christ and within a church. We started researching and looking, which brought us here to HPC, and we immediately felt at home! Our wedding was held here in September and it was such a beautiful day, and since then we have just been loving our church family here!
Within a year prior to the wedding, my grandmother and niece passed away and then followed some of the hardest days when my father passed as well just 13 days before. I was here at HPC when I found out about my dad was being taken to his final hospital stay. Everyone here showered me with prayer and love and even hugged me while I cried… that support was everything. So many of you checked in on me, while I was up in Michigan for the worst and hardest couple of weeks of my life. Thank you. Further, in January when I suffered the ectopic pregnancy and had to have surgery, those that knew, have been nothing but supportive and loving! If I can bring even an ounce of that to this role, I will be happy! I’ve experienced some of the highest and lowest points in my life thus far, right here in the last several years. The steady love and support through it all, is what draws me to wanting to be a part of a role here at HPC! The love for ALL that is spread here, is the absolute greatest, and I’m proud to be a part of this church.

Jesus ate with anybody. Me too; breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee. Bible rebound twice. CS Lewis and GK Chesterton fan. Claim Baptists, Catholics, Orthodox, Jews, Patriarchs, Adam&Eve: the whole robust family lineage.
