Over the course of the past 18 months the leadership of HPC has been exploring options for how we might update our facilities in order to create a modern & welcoming worship experience. As we attempt to live into the calling of our new mission statement we expect HPC to be a vibrant and growing community. In order that we might welcome and serve our neighbors we sought out the expertise of designers and architects to give us a new vision for what our campus might look like.
The Session began working with Lines Architecture in the later Winter of 2020, Later in the project Kate Smith and Adrienne Martin, children of the church, were added into the design process to bring their expertise and connection to the church to the design. Through the visionary leadership of these experts we have been given a design that we believe is both modern and timeless. The overall renovation will take place in 2 phases and will be ideally completed within 18 months.
The lines and tones of this design are intended to focus the room by adding a greater sense of height through the new ceiling. The use of unique slatted wood features on both the ceiling and walls adds even more warmth to the room, especially when it is saturated with sunlight. The walls will see an upgrade with the use of wainscoting to give them a more traditional look. One of the standout features of the design is the new church covered entrance. This gives us a clearly defined entrance as well as an added element of safety and hospitality. In addition, the chapel will be transformed by the relocating the historic glass windows to the chapel walls. We believe this makes this already reverent space an even more ideal environment for smaller services and worship gatherings.
